About The Ivory Edit
What The Ivory Edit is, what it covers and how its guides are written. An independent editorial project about wedding and formal dresses.

The Ivory Edit is an independent editorial project about wedding dresses, formal gowns and the accessories that go with them. It publishes guides for people who are buying, selling, altering or caring for a gown, and tools that help with the decisions along the way.
What the site covers
The site focuses on practical questions: how to judge a used gown, how consignment works, how alterations are priced and timed, which silhouettes and fabrics suit which venue, how to choose a veil and how to care for a gown after the day. Prom and formal dresses are covered where the same fit and fabric questions apply.
How the guides are written
Each guide starts from the question a reader is likely to ask, and answers it before going further. Claims about prices are given as planning ranges, not quotes. Where a guide mentions a practice such as a shop's share of a sale, it explains how to check the figure for the shop in front of you. Interactive tools run in the browser and do not store your answers.
What the site does not do
The Ivory Edit does not sell dresses, does not take bookings for fittings, and does not recommend a particular shop or seamstress. Nothing on the site is a substitute for an individual opinion from a professional, and the guides say so where it matters.
